Northiam

Tonight’s the Night! Northiam Showtimers Magical Musical Moments’ opening night is this evening (Friday) so if you haven’t got your ticket yet – move fast! The show is a tribute to the shows of the West End and Broadway, and consists of songs, dances and comedy, loosely based around well known stage musicals, in Showtimers inimitable style, featuring many familiar faces from Northiam and surrounding villages, many of whom have been performing with Showtimers since its inception in 1996. Yes, Steve Blunden will be dancing once again! This alone is worth the ticket price of £8 (plus 10% online booking fee).

Last Saturday’s Quiz Night in aid of the Bonfire Society was very successful, with the worthy victors Densa, a scratch team put together on the night, and the beer from Hastings Brewery proving very popular.

And grateful thanks to the donors of our fabulous hampers in the raffle, and to Nigel in the Spar, who donated the bread for our ploughmans – without even being asked!

Sally Bickersteth has asked me to say thank you to everyone who donated clothes and items for the latest fund raising collection for Chitiwiri in Malawi. It was another great collection and raised £402.60. This will continue to help the community to run the Days4girls project, helping girls have uninterrupted education and also the irrigation project which will enhance the harvests and help prevent malnutrition in the community. Many thanks again for the amazing support for this project. The next fundraiser will be the bric-a-brac stall at the Village Fair on Saturday 9th August.

Today is the monthly Coffee Morning Market in the Village Hall 9.30-11.30am, and the adult Badminton Club meets in the Pretious Sports Hall at 8pm – new faces always welcome, as they are at the Monday badminton club which meets in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.45pm.
