What a wonderful Easter break! Even the rain was welcome, and our gardens are all the better for it. If you have spotted a gap in the borders, then make a note of the Horticultural Society’s Plant Sale which will be on Saturday 17th May in the Village Hall. There are always some fabulous plants at very reasonable prices as well as gardening essentials like twine and plant tags.

This week we have the monthly Coffee Morning Market in the Village Hall today (Friday) between 9.30am and 11.30am. We are promised many extra stalls and a Grand Easter Egg Raffle.

On Friday evenings, the badminton clubs meet in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.30pm (Primary school age), 6.30pm (Secondary school age) and 8pm (adults). In the Village Hall, Dance Club twirls away from 7.30pm.

The Village Hall Trust are holding a Jumble Sale on Saturday. Please leave donations at the Hall between 10am and 12 noon. The Sale starts at 2.30pm.

The Footpath Group will be enjoying A Walk in Hempsted Forest on Sunday, leaving the surgery car park at 1.30pm for this 5 mile walk.

The Monday badminton club meets in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.45pm, and Zumba is at 8.45pm.

The Annual Parochial Church meeting will be held in the Church Hall on Monday 28th April, when there will be a short presentation on the repair work which is being carried out thanks to the generous support of the village. Any parishioner is welcome to attend this meeting, at which our church wardens will be elected. This will be followed by a meeting of people on the church electoral roll to elect a new PCC.

Coffee Stop will be brewing in the Church Centre from 10am on Wednesday and everyone is very welcome to drop in for a chat.

When shopping, don’t forget that the Primary School is collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers. There is a collection box in the school foyer.

The next clothing collection for Chitiwiri will be on May 16th, and Sally will start taking donations from Monday 28th April. If you fancy a clear out – clothes, bedding, curtains, belts, shoes, soft toys – your unwanted items can be turned into money to make huge differences in Malawi. If the weather is fine, please leave donations in black bin bags in the parking area of their cottage, or call 252108 to make arrangements.

Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club will be holding their annual walk on 18th May, in aid of Rye Hospital and St Michael’s Hospice and walker scan retain 50% of their sponsorship money for their own chosen charity. Details and application forms are available on [email protected].
