Northiam launch bonfire season in spectacular style

The Society led a procession of blazing torches through the village to the bonfire field.

Heavy rain during the afternoon cleared away to provide the Society with a clear, dry evening for the event.

Taking part in the procession were bonfire society’s from Rye, Battle, Robertsbridge and Hastings.

Fittingly, the effigy was a poppy to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.

A spectacular firework display brought the celebration to a close.

Money raised from collections on the night will support the Mary Shipstone Memorial fund.
