The badminton clubs meet in the Pretious Sports Hall on Fridays.

5.30pm for Primary school-age, 6.30pm for Secondary school-age, and the adult club starts at 8pm. Dance Club meets in the Village Hall at 7.30pm for Sequence Dancing.

Northiam & District Historical and Literary Society are holding their Summer Event at Smallhythe Barn, Tenterden, with Tonty and Lizze Gilks brining the past to life using their artefacts and costumed presentations in a humorous and lively manner!

A double celebration on Saturday, with the Conservation Society holding their 25th anniversary with an evening event marking the opening of the Great Medieval Barn at Great Dixter. Admission is by ticket only, and the evening starts at 6pm with the opportunity to explore the gardens at dusk, view the recently restored barn and oast and enjoy classical music from Northiam Chamber Orchestra. The evening will be rounded off with some Proms music so we can relive one of the many memorable moments of our Jubilee celebrations.

The Rabbit and Cavy Club met in the Village Hall on Sunday.

Monday brings us Creative Writing at 10.30am, Bridge at 2pm and the Budgerigar Society at 7pm, all in the Jenkins Room. Pilates is at 7pm in the Village Hall, with Badminton at 5.45pm and Zumba at8.15pm in the Pretious Sports Hall.

The Patients Participation Group are holding a Forum meeting in Northiam Village Hall on 25th September at 7 for 7.30 p.m. The speakers will include Dr Broad of St Michaels Hospice and Mr Buchanan speaking about shoulders. Our Doctors will then hold a question and answer session. All patients from the practice are invited to the meeting, which is always very informative. The PPG are looking for a couple of new Members, so if you are interested please contact the out-going Secretary on 01424 882213. 

Excel Fitness run a class in the Pretious Sports Hall at 6.30pm.

Pilates classes in the Village Hall on Wednesday are at 9am and 10am, with Coffee Stop open in the Church Centre between 10am and 12 noon. Karate is in the Village Hall from 7pm.

Next Friday (28th), Peter Fields (violin) and David Ruddock (piano) will be joined by other guest musicians and local readers to present an evening of poetry, prose and music celebrating the farming year. The Harvest Celebration Concert will be held in St Mary’s Church at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale at £5 (to include interval refreshments) from Coffee Stop or 01797 253261, but will also be available on the door.

I’m sure we would all like to send our thanks to Joan Munn who has now retired from being Hon Treasurer and Booking Clerk, and who has always been so friendly and helpful to all of us who have used the Hall.
