Today (Friday) is the monthly Coffee Morning Market in the Village Hall 9am – midday.

Stalls include jewellery, cards, ceramics, cheese, meats, jams, vegetables, plants, furniture, candles and wooden items.

Pop along to stock up on essentials or treats, or just to enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat.

The members of Badminton Club have decided to stay in and watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony this evening, so please note there will be no club night just for this one week.

The Blue Cross are holding their Summer Sponsored Dog walk on Sunday 29th July, please call for details – 252243.

Also on Sunday, the Footpath Group leave the surgery car park at 1.30pm heading to Smallhythe Place for a 5 mile circular walk starting at 2pm.

On Monday, we have Bridge at 2pm in the Jenkins Room, Badminton in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.45pm, and Zumba at 8.15pm.

An apology – I was unaware that the bus to Jempsons in Peasmarsh each Tuesday costs £1. The bus leaves Goddens Gill at 9.52am, and the Post Office 9.54am returning from Jempsons at 11.30am, or the afternoon service calls at 1.49pm, 1.51pm returning at 3.15pm. Line dancing is in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Coffee Stop is ready to welcome you each Wednesday morning in the Church Centre between 10am and noon.

Everyone is invited to a Garden Party in aid of the NSPCC at Little Monkings, Rocks Hill on Wednesday August 1st from 2.30pm. £4 entry includes your tea, and there will be a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac, jewellery, bring and buy and a large book stall. Little Monkings is along the Hastings Road by the Catholic Church.

Rye and District branch of the National Trust Walks Programme continues on Thursday 2nd August, meeting at 10.30am at the Black Lion Appledore for a 3½ miles flat walk to the Woolpack Inn, Warehorne; return by a different undulating route of about the same distance. It’s nearly time for Northiam Summer Fair! If you haven’t booked a stall or pitch, please call Marie Edwards on 01797 253264. The Fair will be held on the Playing Fields on Saturday August 11th from 11am – 4pm. Pitches for the Boot Sale or stalls for craft and local organisations are available at £10. (Stalls may set up from 9am, and Boot Pitches from 8am).

Northiam Football Club is looking for new keen players to join the second team, currently in Division 6 of the East Sussex league. Training will start on the Playing Fields soon and anyone interested should contact Tony Bishop 01797 252843 (minimum age 16 years).
