LAST Sunday’s Messy Church attracted 70 people – 30 children – who enjoyed what could best be described as chaotic fun as we celebrated Going for Gold with some new Olympic Sports! Messy Church will now take a break for summer, to resume with enthusiasm in September.

Dance Club meets this evening (Friday) at 7.30pm in the Village Hall for Sequence Dancing. Badminton Club starts at 8pm in the Pretious Sports Hall.

The Creative Writing Group meets in the Jenkins Room at 10.30am on Monday, with Bridge at 2pm. Badminton is in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.45pm – new faces very welcome.

An early start (7am) for the Footpath Group on Tuesday, with a Breakfast Walk from The Ship Inn, Winchelsea Beach at 7.30pm of 3 miles, followed by the best meal of the day! Booked places only, please, so call Sue or Michael (253428) if you have forgotten to book.

There is an Open Day at Beckley School on Tuesday (10th) for ex-pupils, staff and villagers. This follows on from the talk on the history of the school in Beckley and the sale of the Cook Book. Please contact the school (260324) if you would like to go, and bring old photos or other interesting items from your personal archives. 9am – 10.30am.

Women’s Fellowship celebrate their 40th Anniversary on Tuesday, beginning with a short thanksgiving service in St Mary’s Church at 2pm, followed by an Anniversary Tea in the Church Centre.

Coffee Stop will have the kettle on at 10am on Wednesday in the Church Centre and all you have to do is pop along for a chat.

Thursday Seniors Club will be visited by Wiltshire Farm Foods this week, and the Citizens Advice Bureau will be available from 10am – 12 noon. If you are able to volunteer to help with driving members to the group, you would be welcomed enthusiastically! Members arrive between 10-10.30am and leave 2.30-3pm, and help one or two Thursdays a month would do the trick.

The gardens of South Grange, Quickbourne Lane will be open on Thursday 12th under the National Gardens Scheme between 2pm and 5pm. Admission is £3.50, and there will be tea and cakes served by Northiam WI, and plants for sale.

The Parish Council meets in the Jenkins Room at 7pm on Thursday.

Northiam Football Club is looking for new keen players to join the second team, currently in Division 6 of the East Sussex league. Training will start on the Playing Fields at the end of July, and anyone interested should contact Tony Bishop 01797 252843 (minimum age 16years).
