The will be a Craft Fair in the Village Hall this Saturday (14th) between 10am and 2pm, featuring cakes, raffle, tombola, paintings, jewellery, cards, spices, gifts, wooden crafts, refreshments and much more!

Northiam Village Hall Trust will be holding their final monthly Boot Sale of the season on Sunday 9-12. If you would like to help with refreshments when the Sales restart in September, please contact Marie Edwards (253264).

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting will be held on Monday (16th) in the Church Centre. A curious historical detail is that the Churchwardens are elected in a public meeting, which will be held at 7.30pm, and then the parochial church council will be elected by members on the church electoral roll. Reports from all the various groups will be presented, with news of future plans.

The Over 60s meet on Tuesday afternoon for a quiz and Swiss Roll Tea – meet in the Village hall at 2pm.

The Annual Village Meeting will be in a new format this year, with various organisations manning a table to display their wares! Look out for news on the Jubilee Celebrations, and find out more about clubs and societies you may like to consider joining. Parish, District and County Councillors will be available to discuss any matter you wish to raise with them, and we are promised a glass of wine! Pop along to the Village Hall from 7.30pm.

The Footpath Group meets on Wednesday for Stone Unturned. Leave the surgery car park at 9.15 to start at The Crown, Stone in Oxney for a figure of eight walk, with lunch at the pub – 8 miles. On the home front, Coffee Stop offers a break in the middle of the week between 10am and 12 noon in the Church Centre.

 Rye and District Branch of the National Trust will hold this month’s talk at Playden WI hall at 2.30pm on Thursday. David Clark will present Epic Voyages of History. Entrance fee of £2 (members) and £3 (non-members) includes refreshments after the talk. Thursday Seniors’ Club will be entertained by Ken and Mark on the keyboard.

I see that Northiam Showtimers will be making a welcome return to the stage at the end of the month. Keep Calm and Carry On is their usual mix of music, dances and sketches, this time looking at the lighter side of events during the 1940s. If you enjoy the likes of Dad’s Army or the sounds of Glenn Miller, The Andrews Sisters or Vera Lynn, then this is right up your street! To add to the atmosphere, audiences are encouraged to dress up 40s style (you can recycle your costumes at the Jubilee Dance). So have a rummage and reserve your ticket by calling 01424 882076. Performances are 7.30pm on Friday 27th April and Saturday 28th April, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Refreshments and a bar will be available at all performances.
