Northiam Women’s Fellowship meet in the Church Centre at 2pm on Tuesday, when Linda Smith, Principal of Frewen College, will be the speaker.

Andy Thomas brings an exciting season to a close for the Historical and Literary Society on Tuesday evening, starting at 7.30pm. His talk, entitled The 2012 Prophesies, will be followed by wine and nibbles. Andy Thomas gave an excellent talk on Crop Circles last year, making reference to 21st December 2012 being the opening (according to many prophesies) to major change and transformation for the world. Penny Farmer runs and aerobics/fitness class each Tuesday in the Pretious Sports hall at 7.45pm.

If you fancy the challenge of a walk entitled Gloriously Hilly! then join the Footpath Group for their outing to Burwash on Wednesday, leaving the surgery car park at 9.30am, with a well deserved rest for a pub lunch.

Coffee Stop will be open in the Church Centre on Wednesday morning between 10am and 12 noon – everyone is welcome to call in and have a chat.

Northiam Seniors will enjoy entertainment from the Regency Singers this week. New members are always welcome at this lively club, where pensioners can meet to enjoy cheerful company with a nourishing two course meal and after lunch entertainment. Other services are offered on a regular basis. Please call Ann (252343) or Jane (252973) if you are interested in visiting the club. Transport from local villages can be arranged.

Rye and District Association of the National Trust will meet in Beckley Village Hall on Thursday, starting at 2.30pm. The talk this month is My Childhood under German Occupation, presented by Bill van Draat. Entrance £2 (£3 for non-members) to include refreshments after the talk.

Jess, from Hairtique, will be supporting Help the Heroes with a charity skydive on Sunday 18th March. If you would like to sponsor Jess there will be forms in Hairtique, Will’s Bakery and Northiam DIY.

Volunteers and prizes are being sought for the village Jubilee Celebrations, which we hope will be a fantastic weekend for everyone. If you would like to help make this a memorable time, please give your name to Sue Keighley, Parish Clerk. Jobs will be shared out nearer the time, but we will need First-Aiders, cooks, bakers, equipment shifters, vegetable growers etc etc, as well as some good prizes for the Grand Raffle. Up to date information will be on show at the Annual Village Meeting in April, or pop into the Parish Office.

The Village Hall Trust will be holding a Book Sale on Saturday March 24th, and Marie will be happy to take donations in advance (please ring 253264). Jigsaws, DVDs etc will also be on sale, so this can be a very useful place to stock up.

Northiam Horticultural Society’s Spring Show will be held on March 31st. Schedules are available from Joan Davis (253458) and include baking, photography, flower arrangement, handicraft, flowers and vegetables and children’s sections. Please take a look at a schedule and take the plunge. It costs 20p to enter each exhibit, with the prospect of glory (as well as prize money and the thrill of taking part).
