Northiam Village Voice

What an excellent evening we had on Saturday – a very good village turnout for the WI’s first quiz. Sixteen teams battled it out, with the Cedar Trogs and the Eight Mates vying for pole position. At the end, it was proclaimed a draw, and the committee made an excellent decision to award both teams with prizes, niftily adding cheese to the wine and suggesting holding a cheese and wine party with the winnings! Honour satisfied.

It was a great pleasure to welcome back the Bamber Gascoines of the Rye area – Damien and Gina Sanderson – who managed a packed hall of quizzers with their usual aplomb and an excellent master board. Let’s hope this becomes an annual event.

This week, we have the badminton clubs meeting in the Pretious Sports Hall today (Friday) at 5.30pm (Primary age) and 6.30pm (Secondary age). The adult club will be having a closed session this week at 8pm. Normal open house will resume next week! Dance Club meets in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Flu Vaccinations for Dr Parnell’s patients will be available at Northiam surgery between 2-3.30pm on Thursday (21st). I am sure you don’t need me to remind you of the importance of these injections if you have a chronic illness. They are also available to anyone over the age of 65. We were very fortunate last year, and our swine flu precautions seemed a bit excessive, but at least we will be ready for next time! But prevention is better than cure, so do take advantage of these session – other dates have been arranged for the other doctors’ patients.
