Observer Community Awards 2015 winners are crowned

The true heroes of our community were recognised at another fantastic Observer Community Awards evening at Bognor Butlins last night.

Host Fred Dinenage dished out 15 awards and took the time to hear the amazing stories of bravery, selflessness and success on stage on Monday, December 14.

There were awards for young people who are fighting their own battles while do amazing things to help others, as well as countless stories on inspiration and all watched by hundreds who turned out.

A raffle on the night managed to raise more than £350 for a young girl called Lily Dallimore, 14, who continues to fight a very rare disease in hospital - always with a smile on her face. Her grandparents, Linsey and Paul, spoke about Lily and how incredibly brave she is.

There was hot competition in a number of categories, including Best School and the Bravery award. One Chichester school had a particularly good night.

A Community Awards 2015 special feature picturing all of the winners and sponsors will appear in the Chichester, Bognor and Midhurst and Petworth Observers this Thursday, December 17.

At the end of a thoroughly entertaining and moving night, Fred said: “We’ve heard from some quite incredible people here tonight who give everything to help others around them.

The Observer would like to thank each of the sponsors for the separate awards for their fantastic support.

A special thanks goes to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, who were again the headline sponsor of the overall awards and handed out the Special Achievement award to Iain Terry’s widow, Hannah, who came along with her two young daughters and were given a standing ovation.
