Only 65% of Bexhill has received green wheelies

ONLY 65% per cent of Bexhill homes have so far been issued with the promised green wheelie bins for recycling garden waste.

The figure is revealed in the response to a question put to Rother leader Cllr Carl Maynard via his Ask The Leader slot on the Rother website.

The questioner asked: "Please can you tell me which areas have Green Wheelie Bins and when they were provided.

"In my area we were told that they would be provided in March and now it appears it will not be until July or August.

"Can you now provide a provision program."

The leader said: "The phasing is complex and requires new vehicles and recruitment of new staff to make the collections.

"Without knowing which area you live in I cannot confirm the timetable for you.

"The green garden waste service is currently being provided to 16,626 properties in:

Battle (areas north and south of the High Street);

Bexhill approximately 65%;

Burwash (residential areas and lengths of the A265);

Flimwell;

Icklesham (including some rural lanes);

Northiam (all urbanised areas and some lanes);

Robertsbridge (about 80% of the "urbanised" area);
