Open day for Loxwood residents’ feedback on neighbourhood plan

Loxwood parishioners are invited to give their views on a draft neighbourhood plan this Sunday (November 24).

The plan has been put together from community views on issues including traffic, transport and housing, said a spokesperson for the Loxwood Steering Group, which produced the plan.

Tony Colling, the group’s chair, said: “Our mission is to maintain Loxwood as a semi-rural parish, yet one which welcomes incremental change that will sustain and enhance its facilities and contribute to a greater sense of community and neighbourliness.”

There will be one more opportunity for villagers to give feedback during the draft plan’s consultation process in December.

The consultation draft of the neighbourhood plan can be viewed and downloaded from the village website.

A consultation summary of comments is available on the site and at the end of the consultation period an independent examination will be carried out with the parish and key stakeholders.

These include Chichester District Council plus others advised by them, West Sussex County Council, Southern Water and neighbouring parishes.

The next stage will be a village referendum, as required by the Neighbourhood Planning Localism Act with a requirement of a 50 per cent majority.

Once adopted the Neighbourhood Plan will form part of the CDC local plan.

The open days will take place in North Hall, Loxwood from 10am to 4pm on Sunday and 6pm to 10pm on Tuesday December 3.
