It is made with more than 90% natural ingredients, including 15 vibrant plant essences.

The lovely ingredient list had me snaffling before I even opened up the package: Bergamot, Virginian Cedarwood, Patchouli, Guaiacwood, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Cypriol, Siam Benzoin, Damask Rose, Elemi, Cinnamon Leaf, Clove Bud, Pink Pepper, Bourbon Vanilla, and Vetiver.

The contrasting notes combine beautifully in this 'fresh oriental', handcrafted by the perfumer, Alienor Massenet. Alienor is the nose behind award-winning fragrances for Chloe, Estée Lauder, Viktor and Rolf, and Diesel. This blend offers contrast and subtlety together, with spicy but feminine pink pepper and Bergamot top notes, coupled with sweet floral Rose Absolute Damascena, woody cypriol, and cedar wood at the heart.

A rich luminosity melts to reveal the velvety undertone of sustainable sandalwood in the base (discretely seductive, but definitely there). The cocooning almondy-caramel tonka bean is enhanced by Vanilla Bourbon and Amberiff, a great synthetic musk with a clean, sexy freshness to it.

Botanical Essence No. 15 is housed in a neat recyclable glass bottle created in France to spray a delicate mist. The finely-illustrated magnetic packaging keeps its precious cargo safe from light degradation and invites the user inside to try "an olfactory jewel, evoking the feeling of elegance and seduction". It is an addictive pleasure to wear this skin-like scent (£47 for 50ml).

As a brand, Liz Earle is probably best known for an iconic cleansing routine, which they consider to be central to healthy-looking skin. Their Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser has been in continuous production since 1995 and works well for any age or skin type.

It has won more than 100 prestigious beauty awards and a friend was amazed I haven't covered it yet, because it is her long-term favourite product.

I have now enjoyed the herbal eucalyptus and skin-softening cocoa butter in the original formulation. But, as diehard afficionados will rush to explain, there is also a (very) limited summer edition out at the moment in Orange flower and Chamomile "to soothe the senses and nurture the skin in one clean sweep" - £19.75 for 150ml, including two pure muslin cloths, at selected Boots and John Lewis or Liz Earle stores (www.lizearle.com).
