I was very pleased to see your article in last week’s edition (05.05.17) which informed readers that the proceeds from the 25th annual Classic Car Show will be donated to the Conquest25 MRI Scanner Appeal.

Your article explained that the current 13-year-old scanner is now one of the oldest ‘in British hospitals’ and the benefits that will be brought to local patients by its replacement with a modern MRI scanning machine which will cost more than £1 million.

Hastings Winkle Club are proud that a club vice president, Michael Foster DL, is patron of the appeal and decided several weeks ago to make a substantial donation. For whatever reason, we have been requested to wait until after the General Election before presenting the cheque.

The Friends of the Conquest Hospital can be assured however that as soon as we get the ‘green light’ we will be delighted to add a Winkle Club gift to an appeal which is clearly worthy of our support.
