Chestnut Tree House: get involved

You may recall that last week we told you a little about the work that we do in East Sussex and our desire to help more children. The only way we can do this is to raise more money.

It currently costs us £3 million each year to provide all of our services, both at the house and out in the community, and we receive just 8% of our funding from local government. The rest of our funding comes from fundraising.

We have lots of fantastic supporters in East Sussex who hold events or take on challenges in order to raise vital funds.

Whilst it would take far too long to mention everyone, we would like to give you an idea of the kind of things people are doing. The Chatfield Family from Hailsham set off from London on Sunday and are currently cycling 1,000 to Barcelona. Sarah-Michelle Clear, who is just 9 years old, is taking on over 20 triathlons this year. And Mark and Heather Sutton are going to attempt to drive all the way to Valencia and back in a £500 banger.

We also have companies getting involved. The Powder Mills Hotel in Battle is holding its Charity Masquerade Ball on Saturday 18th October, promising ‘Glitz and Glamour’ along with delicious food and great entertainment (Tickets cost £30 and can be purchased by calling the Hotel on 01424 775511) whilst Knockhatch Ski and snowboard centre are hosting a night-ski on 26th July (visit their website for more info).

We also have people holding quiz nights, raffles, fun days and cake sales. There are so many ways to get involved, and just about anybody can do it.

If you would like to find out how you can get involved have a look on our website (chestnut-tree-house.org.uk) or give us a call on 01323 725095.
