The steering group have been doing an enormous amount of work behind the scenes, but it is absolutely vital that they have the views and consensus of those who live and work in Rye.

Having a Government recognised plan will help ensure we are listened to at a higher level. It will also go a long way to granting Rye more freedom and independence from external dictates, something we all feel strongly about.

As former Rye Mayor Shaun Rogers said when the plan was first launched - it is about the future of our children and grandchildren.

We want to leave a legacy that we can be proud of.

Filming in Rye of the BBC’s Mapp and Lucia series has reached an interesting stage with many marvelling at how Market Street has gone back in time. Thanks to all those who have commented and sent in pictures. See our feature on page 13.
