Hoping for fine weather for DLWP photo re-creation

Let's hope the weather is sunny this Bank Holiday Monday - the De La Warr Pavilion is hosting a huge outdoor event as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations.

The lynchpin of this party is the recreation of an iconic image from 1936, crowds of people watching the Daily Mirror Eight performing on the Pavilion's terrace.

A freerunning team takes the place of the troupe of dancers and a top photographer has been commissioned to take the shot that will mirror the classic image of 1936.

With a street party, impromptu orchestras and tea and cakes, this promises to be a fun and unusual day out for all the family.

The De La Warr Pavilion is promising a postcard of the new photograph to those who turn up on the day.

If you are there, look out for a special anniversary edition of the Bexhill Observer to commemorate this event.

And yes it had better be sunny - or at least the rain needs to keep away - to give this unusual and interesting venture the best possible chance of success.

BEXHILL Rowing Club is arguably one of the most successful rowing clubs in the UK.

With a great wealth of trophies to its name - as well as the famous winners of the Indian Ocean race last year - the club has enjoyed an immense amount of victories, particularly in the last 18 months.

However the club needs the support of the town in order to kit out its new building once it is ready.

That's an estimated 70,000 - so come on Bexhill, dig deep if you can.
