TRANSITION towns prepare for life after oil and for climate change.

Geologists think we are beginning a transition to life beyond oil.

Two neighbouring towns, Lewes and Brighton-Hove, are transition towns.

All ages are involved in preparing for the transition. The elderly, with local historians, are invaluable because of their memories of partly self sufficient living. The very young are included because their future is post peak oil in addition to climate change. The churches are involved because care for the earth, the climate and the future, in God's service, is our responsibility.

In the transition we will need to relocalise food again. We can begin by removing some asphalt or a slab crushing front garden soil and planting a fruit or nut tree. Support the Little Common Farmers' Market next Thursday. At Farmers' Markets you socialise with other people. You support local growers. Sustainable local meals symbolise Christ's Kingdom.
