The station has become part of the Romney Marsh landscape over the years

As well as powering thousands of homes, the station provides hundreds of well paid high quality jobs and offers a vital first rung on the career ladder with its apprentice scheme, which draws on local schools.

Investment in new safety measures is also reassuring.

Congratulations to all at Northiam Primary School for vast improvements which have seen it coming out of Special Measures.

Questions still need to be asked though as to how the former head and management team allowed a good village school to deteriorate to such a level and why the local education authority were not aware of the situation before it got to the stage where Special Measures were needed.

With the Rye Swimming Pool situation in danger of becoming a political football, we sympathise with Cllr Sam Souster, a man of great integrity who has always worked hard for the local community.
