something positivefrom a tragedy

It is heartening to see people giving so generously to the fund set up in memory of little Mary Shipstone.

The terrible tragedy has shaken the village of Northiam to its core, but it has also brought the community closer together and united it in love and support.

Many people have given to the fund and others, like Northiam Rector Rod White, have given time to support Lyndsey and the family.

No-one could fail to be moved by Lyndsey’s words this week when she recalled what a loving and special little girl Mary was.

It is a lovely warm gesture from the family to want to help the Music Well project which uses music therapy to help children.

Many of the children helped by this charity have special needs and music brings real joy and purpose to their lives.

Mary herself loved music and was excited about learning the violin.

Music therapist Beccy Read commented, on the fund’s web page: “It is good to see something positive coming out of a tragedy.”

It would be good to really get behind the appeal and help the family reach the £5,000 target.

Nothing can bring Mary back but we can ensure she is remembered with this positive effort which will help other children.
