In a nutshell he was splendid

I have admired the late John Hodges since he was first elected to serve the Old Hastings ward.

Later on, he became a county councillor for Silverhill and St Helens – which was especially fitting as he had been born and lived in Silverhill.

His knowledge of business in Hastings was unrivalled and it is not too much to say that many people in the business community revered John.

In my personal experience his reports were always enlightening and in his capacity as lead opposition member for transport and highways, he was never less than extremely efficient.

In a nutshell he was an inspiring leader and splendid colleague and friend. He is irreplaceable.
