Just A Minute: resilient support

February marks four years since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Reports of frontline casualties and civilian suffering still rend the heart. Unless, that is, we have become numb to the pain, are bored of the battle, distrust all news, accept Putin’s narrative, or prefer to appease aggressors.

May the vision of human worth (Genesis 1:27) which led the British Navy to disrupt the slave trade, and which then led the UK Government to instruct British rule to be a force for good, sustain our support for a neighbour in need.

I thank God for all Bexhillians who have welcomed Ukrainian guests, and I pray that the diagnosis of evil (formed by Christian heritage) which caused us to stand against Hitler would still unite us and strengthen resolve.

Jonathan Frais, Chairman (Churches Together in Bexhill)
