With my husband’s paternity leave ending, it will the first time I will be on my own getting the two kids and myself ready in the morning.

And no doubt I’ll end up doing my hubby’s packed lunch as well because I’m sure it is one of those jobs he won’t quite get around to doing.

For the past two weeks, mornings have been laid-back affairs.

The combination of having very little to rush for early in the mornings, and the fact there has been two parents and two children has meant we have been able to take our time.

Family cuddles in bed, lazy breakfasts and no rush to get dressed have meant mornings have been stress-free and I have also been able to catch up with the odd hour’s sleep with a few mini lie-ins.

Even when we have made earlyish plans, the teamwork approach has been the winning formula.

But this morning my husband will head off to work early, leaving us to fend for ourselves.

And with the new addition to the family playing games of ‘what time will I wake for my feed?’ every morning, I can’t even come up with a rough timetable in my head.

Mind you I’m still struggling to remember what day it is, let alone remember to put out the morning’s clothes the night before.

And whereas I would empty the dishwasher and washing machine in the mornings, this will now have to be one of my many evening jobs which will no doubt see me mopping the floor at midnight in a desperate attempt to keep on top of the housework.

I think the morning will go amazingly well – assuming I can get myself out of bed – or will see me still attempting to do my hair at lunchtime while at the same time make the sandwiches.

And there will be the moment when my little man announces he needs my help on the potty while I am in the middle of sorting a dirty nappy from my little lady.

I just need to make sure I am super organised, keep calm and get myself dressed at least ten minutes before my husband gets home at the end of the day!

I can’t believe my little girl is two weeks old already.

The time has absolutely flown by and I already can’t imagine life without her.

After all the final checks we have been signed off by the fabulous team at St Richard’s.

So it’s time to say a huge thank-you to all of the staff at the hospital and who are part of the community midwifery team who cared for us.

You are all wonderful!
