LETTER: Art centre an excellent idea

It is shameful that this building has remained empty for many years; it is a terrible eyesore, particularly for my elderly mother who lives opposite.

It’s no good saying it’s an arts and crafts building which should be preserved and then doing nothing about it. It’s currently home to pigeons and rats which from time to time pose a health threat to those living around it.

I think Michael Parfect’s suggestion of an arts centre, or for use by the displaced artists at the Phoenix Iron works is an excellent idea. Equally it could provide much needed housing but it seems that no-one’s really interested.
