LETTER: Developers hold all the cards

I really would like to know what happened to localism when all our local district councils come up with their neighbourhood plans that have taken years to put together in some cases and they are completely ignored by somebody employed by the government, who dismisses their arguments out of hand.

Why is it that the developers seem to have all the cards on their side? How many times are developments refused by local councils and local people with all good reasons, no infrastructure, local flooding issues etc etc and it goes to appeal again and again and eventually this man from The government gets involved and lo and behold the appeal is allowed!

When will the developers stop? When Sussex is under concrete I imagine! What happened to building on brownfield sites? Mayfields answer is not the way forward either. We certainly don’t need another huge urban sprawl in the middle of the countryside.

It needs us all to get together and say enough is enough.

Let our councils decide our housing needs, not the developers.
