LETTER: Misery on the '˜forgotten line'

I have written to Transport Minister Chris Grayling three times to complain about the railway provision in Seaford, the last time being in September. However, even though they were sent using headed notepaper from me in my role as Mayor, I have not received even an acknowledgement, let alone a reply.

I regard this as being a sign of exactly what is wrong, the attitude that people in Seaford don’t matter!

Well we do and I am currently hearing stories of families who are forced to move because their journey to work has been disrupted so many times. Some are on the verge of losing their jobs. It’s not just Seaford, but Newhaven as well, we have become the ‘forgotten line’.

Please can I urge you to recommend the Government strips Govia of its franchise. They are a disgrace.

I feel that Seaford has had enough of being used as a pawn in Govia’s attempt to crush the RMT. It’s people who are suffering, their jobs are at risk, family life is non-existent, health is suffering, all the people of Seaford want is a reliable railway service as it used to be.

Cllr Lindsay Freeman
