A ‘thank you’

I should like to mark the sad closure of our Crown Post Office in the Arcade by showing appreciation to all those who gave their support for the campaign to keep it.

Whether you wrote a letter, signed your support, marched on a public meeting or simply attended one of them, thank you. It is important that people don’t lose heart with the struggles to resist the frequent assaults on our community. We did manage to face down and stop the town council’s attempt to split and undermine the town show, which is such a great coming together of community organisations and people in our town.

We must also, for example, salute the sterling efforts of the volunteers that have resurrected the cinema at the Windmill after Arun District Council pulled the rug from under Inspire Leisure.

There are many wins and losses over the years.

I hope everyone will make a point of supporting all the shops still in the Arcade and at the end of it for whom this closure must be a real concern and we should also thank the staff from the Crown Post Office and wish them well in the future.
