A thoughtful performance

I went to see the most recent Fairlight Players production, Alan Ayckbourn's Time of My Life with mixed feelings.

Ayckbourn is a clever playwright and challenging for both professional and amateur groups.

First time director Charlotte Eastes admitted underestimating him, saying she thought it a ‘straightforward play’ but was proved wrong.

My misgivings were also proved wrong, Charlotte and the cast obviously worked hard and gave a thoughtful, well-paced performance with some hilarious interludes courtesy of Peter Spencer playing four waiters.

I have not been to many of the Fairlight Players productions, but after my first visit, three years ago, I look out for them now.

Thanks to all involved for some very good entertainment, I’ll see you in November.
