Adult social care funding is unjust

I note in your March 17 issue the comments of Huw Merriman MP about his pleasure that NIC rises have been scrapped.
I wish a similar outcry could be made about the fact that learning disabled people are being expected to pay charges for their care from their benefits. It seems totally unjust that the poorest and most vulnerable are being made to pay for the failings of the economic system.

Hide AdAdult social care should be free at the point of delivery in the same way as the NHS and paid for from general taxation. If we want a civilised society we have to pay for it.
Those who claim hardship as a result of these charges are required to fill in a form redolent of the 1930s having to give bank statements and credit card statements and even being asked to detail expenditure on birthday presents and pets.
They can then expect a visit from ESCC finance department to give financial guidance. Outrageous!
