Animals alert
Now that it is the bonfire season, can I ask you to remind everyone that hedgehogs, frogs and toads are around and might be under piles of wood and garden rubbish and they would be unable to escape if it was set alight around them?
It is best to build the bonfire on the day or to move the material from one place to another for burning. Otherwise, please feel carefully by hand all round the bottom of the pile or use two broom handles to lift the rubbish and shine a torch in to check.
