He became more widely known for his iconic film The Boy who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan, an enthralling account of the daily life of a small boy growing up in the violent Afghanistan conflict.

This was followed by his series of ‘In Search of….’ films about Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven (played in cinemas for months) and, recently his life of Chopin.
