Back the bench

HAVING recently moved into the area and hearing of the amazing bequest for a "longest bench" record that is soon to be set on the seafront, I was more than a little surprised by a seeming lack of support for this enterprise — for example, negative comments in the Gazette, and even from passers-by.

Now, having seen for myself the project taking shape — and what a shape it is, to be sure — I feel that the public's opinion, from residents and visitors alike, should be voiced.

So, if you, Mr and Mrs John Public, agree that this bench is a truly wonderful idea that will enhance the Littlehampton Promenade, why not write to our editor and tell him so? I'm sure he, in his wisdom, would be delighted to devote much space to your comments.
