Buss pass holders can make contribution

In last Friday’s Observer, under the heading ‘Changes to bus passes from April 1’ it was announced that from that date bus passes will only be valid after 9.30 am. The reason, according to Cllr Carl Maynard (lead member for transport and environment), is because the council has to make savings. But as he also said that many bus pass holders are prepared to make a contribution to their fares, why not take up this offer?. I say this, because also last Friday, I received an e mail from RDC telling me I have to pay £25 per annum for my garden rubbish collection, whether I like it or not!. So, as bus pass holders (and I am one) benefit not only from free travel, but also from not having to pay car parking charges when they travel to another town to spend their money, whereas gardeners spend a lot of money and time making a contribution to the Battle ambience, I don’t see why gardeners should be charged £25 per year, but bus pass holders nothing.
