Call for action over greedy parking fines

I AM writing to tell you what happened to us at Crowhurst station last week.

My husband went to recycle the bottles with my 22-month-old son.

After doing the bottles a train came in, so my son, an avid train lover, wanted to see the choo choo come into the station. This all took about five minutes.

In this time we were given a ticket.

I have appealed to the meteor ticket people but they said I had to have a ticket as there is no waiting time at the station, even for recycling.

I think it needs to be highlighted, as a village resident this means that we cannot recycle without paying £3 or running the risk of a ticket.

I feel that somewhere in the car park should be an area, like at Battle train station, where you can park for 20 minutes to wait for passengers, or get a ticket for the train, or find out the times to recycle bottles, or even to show your young child the train going by.

Something needs to be done as how are we to promote recycling when it has just cost us £45 (£90 if we didn’t pay quickly), which we can ill afford at the moment, as I have just had a baby a week ago.

I am not sure what can be done or where to go, maybe my emotions are high as I have just given birth last Tuesday, but I feel very sad that we cannot recycle or even show our son the train or pick up or drop of people for the train, even get information on train times with out paying £3 for a ticket or running the risk of a hefty fine.

I just think the whole thing is pure madness and greed.
