Care is so good

My mother has been a resident of Darlington Court care home at Rustington for almost three years and I was very upset to read your article (Gazette, September 5) describing it as a failing home.

Far from failing, I find it an excellent home with fantastic caring, loving and very well trained staff. The needs and concerns of the residents and their relatives are always their top priority.

The activity staff organise entertainment, days out and produce two shows a year, when the staff give up their own time to entertain us.

I make a 20-mile round trip most days to visit mum, but would never move her closer to me, as the care she receives is so good.

Perhaps the inspectors from the Care Quality Commission should have spoken to the long term residents and their relatives, instead of the short stay residents, who I can only guess were anxious at being in any home.

Thank you and three cheers for all of the staff
