Of the 28 Christ’s Hospital pupils taking the Diploma, six candidates have achieved over 40 points (out of a maximum of 45), only 3 per cent of pupils worldwide have scored 40 points or over this year.

The average points scored by the Christ’s Hospital cohort of IB pupils was 35, which compares favourably to the worldwide average of 29 points.

Three Christ’s Hospital pupils have gained 42 points and four pupils have been awarded the prestigious Bilingual Diploma (a Bilingual Diploma is achieved when pupils study two languages at native level).

One CH pupil, Lola Seaton gained 42 points (a maximum of 21 points at Higher Level which is a remarkable achievement) and will be taking up a place at King’s College Cambridge in the autumn.

And we congratulate Ellen Blackshaw-Thomas for achieving 41 points and earning her place at the University of Birmingham to study Medicine.

Other CH pupils from this cohort have gained places at Oxford, Durham, St Andrews, Sussex, UCL and the University of Warwick.

“We are immensely proud of our pupils who have once again proved their outstanding abilities,” said the Head Master of Christ’s Hospital, John Franklin.

“The IB Diploma is an excellent preparation for the demands of university and our pupils take with them the confidence and the skills that they will need to achieve success at university and to make a worthwhile contribution to society in later life,” he continued.

Andrew Wines, IB Co-ordinator at Christ’s Hospital, added: “These outstanding results recognise the hard work of our pupils and pay tribute to the teaching they have received.

“The IB Diploma is a rigorous exam and these results are just reward.”
