Chrits’s Hospital pupil gains place into the National Youth Theatre

Regarded by industry professionals, drama schools, and universities as one of the most prestigious organisations in the country for the training of young actors to be accepted into National Youth Theatre is a huge achievement.

In Kwame’s case it is a particularly impressive one because this was his first attempt and this year 4000 auditioned for just 400 places.

The National Youth Theatre was established in 1956 as the first youth theatre in the world and over the past 56 years they have nurtured the talent of hundreds of young people including Matt Smith, Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ben Kingsley, Daniel Day-Lewis, Daniel Craig, Catherine Tate, Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

“Kwame can be very proud of his achievement,” said Christ’s Hospitals Director of Drama Melanie Bloor Black.

“It is a tremendous accolade to be accepted in to the National Youth Theatre aged just 15 and we are all delighted for him.”
