The aim is to give folk who live alone and rarely get away an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and outings and to enjoy the company of other people for a very modest outlay.

This year guests were able to watch a professional flower demonstration, create their own masterpieces; try their hand at water colour painting and participate in the art of marbling and colouring. A bake off was held with wonderful results.

For those feeling the need for exercise armchair aerobics was available and enjoyed by many.

A choir from the RNIB in Redhill entertained as did our own church musicians.

Guests were picked up from their homes by our volunteer drivers and were welcomed with coffee and biscuits on arrival.

Each day a home cooked lunch was also provided. Outings involving two mini-buses and cars took guests on a visit to a private garden whilst a visit to a farm gave the opportunity for trailer rides.

The Torch Holiday Centre in Hurstpierpoint was also visited where they were joined by a lady who brought along a number of pet animals including a corn snake which our guests enjoyed handling.

In all 41 guests in total were entertained with many participating in all three days despite mobility and sight limitations.

Organisers, Pauline Jepps and Alison Edwards commented: “As Christians we aim to live out our faith in the local community and we believe that this time together enables us to show God’s love for each person in a practical way.”
