Over fifty girls aged from 5 to 17 – Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers – supported by twenty fantastic volunteer leaders took part in an afternoon of outdoor fun.

They enjoyed parachute games and treasure trails through the woods, learnt skills including knotting and semaphore, and took part in tasty crafts such as cake decorating. Hot-dogs and a camp-fire concluded the memorable day.

Sophie, aged 5, said: “I liked the Treasure Hunt because it was in the woods”, whilst her friend Judith added “I liked singing my favourite songs around the camp-fire”.

2014 is the one hundreth anniversary of Brownies – Girlguiding section for 7-10 year old girls.

Events have been held both nationally and locally; this year Brownies from Horsham have joined 3000 other Brownies in taking over Butlins, and slept-over with 900 Brownies at the Amex Stadium, in addition to enjoying local celebrations.
