Common sense?

LAST Saturday, I took my grandson to the car boot sale at Ford.

On arriving, we witnessed an elderly couple trying to park their car as near to the entrance as you could get.

They were shouted at by the “helpers” and had barriers shoved behind the reversing car to prevent them from parking.

I believe the “helpers” thought it was a dangerous area because of the other cars, but I felt a bit of time could have been taken to explain to the driver the situation, and could have prevented a lot of bad feeling.

The market was fairly busy, and my grandson noticed some toy guns at one of the stalls.

He is a normal boy, who likes to play pretend games with his friends, and some of these games, as has happened for many years, involved guns and sticks and such.

These were definitely toys, mainly plastic.

While looking to perhaps buy him one, two overbearing market officials barged their way through and demanded they be removed from sale.

They were not speaking very good English, and it was difficult to make out what the problem was. The guns were put away in the stall holder’s car, and he was told if they were put out for sale again, the police would be called.

We then made our way home, but my grandson wanted to know why everyone seemed to be so angry.

Please could we get back to when common sense was paramount? When people were pleasant to each other?

I would rather my grandson saw happy faces, not anger all the time.
