Council precept rise is staggering

I have received the Council Tax notification for my band F property, the total has increased by six per cent from £2,524 to £2,676.

This includes a three per cent adult social care precept of £89, an increase of £54. I do not begrudge this (although it is a Tory fudge to put the burden on local authorities to maintain their now discredited pledge of no increase in direct taxation).

What does stand out and what I do object to is the £46 increase in the Battle Parish Council precept, an increase of 33 per cent.

Battle budgeted spending now stands at £341,000 up from £253,000. Looking back five years to 2012 the Battle precept was £188,000. Thus Battle Town Council spending has increased by £153,000 or a staggering 81 per cent.

Over the same period the Rother District Council portion of my bill has increased by five per cent from £233pa to £245pa.

Does any one on Battle Town Council represent the Council Tax payers or are they more interested in new baubles for the mayor?
