If the council decides in its wisdom to relocate the excellent Tourist Information Centre to the Welcome Building by the Congress Theatre then they will have lost control of their senses.

Its current position is ideal as part of the newly- revitalised town centre.

To move it would mean a good 15 to 20 minute walk to a location inconvenient to its targeted users – visitors.

If they are so desperate to move it why not consider the railway station as the former booking hall is vacant and there is the possibility that the drop-in health centre will become vacant before long.

To arrive by train and find that the tourist centre is a taxi ride away is beyond reason.

Think again, councillors.
