Detour that meant a lot

IN response to Mr Birdham's letter (Gazette, July 16), I am sorry if he feels slighted but my visit to Littlehampton, Australia, was prearranged by the local authorities and community leaders, and for them, this was the first visit of this kind by a Littlehampton resident.

Our visit, quite by chance, coincided with the Benjamin Gray 150 years celebration.

This detour on my holiday meant a lot to them.

A Benjamin Gray display will be in the Littlehampton Museum this autumn, which I hope visitors will find of interest.
