Dipping, diving and fun in the farmyard

They went on a Rainforest Adventure discovering the unique creatures hidden beneath the green canopy, fed turtles, learnt about the conservation of seahorses and watched sting rays being fed. They even saw sharks but were discouraged from touching them!

Scarlett, aged 7, said, ”The seahorses were my favourite because I’d learned about them for my homework.”

The children will now use this valuable experience to help them with their writing and other studies.

l Children from Reception class at Castlewood School donned their wellies recently when they went on a visit to Ladyland Farm at Horley.

Whilst at the Farm, the children handled rabbits, fed calves with bottles and goats from buckets and learned about chicks and how they hatch.

Esme, aged 5, said, “I had such a fun time – I held a baby goat and the Farmer called her Esme like me!”

After all this learning and hard work, it was time for some fun with a tractor ride and climbing on the hay bales.

Reception teacher, Georgina Allen, commented: “ This kind of visit brings our classroom work alive for the children and gives them a deeper understanding of the natural world around them.”
