We are heading towards losing one of the very few green areas in the Westham and Stone Cross area that allow families to enjoy the countryside and a day out with ‘pick your own’ fruit and vegetables and a chance to wander through a natural environment.

Sharnfold Farm was sold as an ongoing concern but sadly up to 400 homes are now planned.

The site is on the north side of the A27 which was meant to be protected from development and drains directly into the Pevensey Levels a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

With the government’s commitment to protect
30 per cent of the UK’s land by 2030, surely Sharnfold needs to be part of this promise.

Locals residents will not have the same problems as new people coming into this area needing schools, jobs and medical care which will not be easy to find.

These essential infrastructures needs should be taken into consideration too!

There are already a large number of green fields in this area that have been granted permission to build already, when all are completed there will just be a large housing estate from Westham to Polegate with an every increasing amount of traffic and high pollution.

I understand the demand for houses but people need to be supported within their communities too.

Please help save this much loved and needed green space, once the concrete is down it will be too late.
