First Grandparents’ Afternoon for prep school

Farlington Prep School held its first Grandparents’ Afternoon at the end of last term. The idea was to welcome grandparents, along with friends, relatives and godparents to tour the School with the girls.

The afternoon began with a rapid turnaround, sweeping lunch things away and setting up for around 70 visitors. A brief welcome was followed by refreshments and then the visitors settled to enjoy a short concert.

Farlington Prep girls rose to the challenge with choirs and the cast of ‘Annie’ singing with gusto.

There were some fabulous harp, oboe and flute pieces performed too, all showcasing the confidence with which our girls share their considerable musical talents, under the excellent guidance of Mrs Thomas and Mr Dallimore.

A sunny spring afternoon added to the buzz, as girls led their grandparents to their favourite parts of the School: the Forest School area being a firm favourite with our younger pupils.

Family values are closely held by our happy and vibrant community and it seemed very fitting to reserve this special occasion for our grandparents, to thank them for their interest in the School and, of course, for the wonderful part that they play in the girls’ education.

Grandparents’ Afternoon was a wonderful success and as usual this was down to a marvellous team effort!
