Full steam ahead for Wiston rally

One of the largest gatherings of steam powered vehicles in Sussex is due to take place at Wiston Steam Rally.

Over the weekend of the 5th & 6th July 2014, Sussex Steam Shows is proud to be holding it’s annual steam rally at Wiston Park, Steyning Road, Steyning, West Sussex.

The event is held to raise money for SERV Sussex (The Bloodrunners) who provide night time transportation of blood, blood products and other urgent medical items for NHS Hospitals across Sussex.

Anne Whittingstall of Sussex Steam Shows said: “We are delighted to be hosting a weekend of fun filled family entertainment at Wiston for the fourth year. We have had overwhelming support from our exhibitors and visitors over the past three years.

“We’re excited to be putting on the largest steam rally in Sussex and raising money for local charities” added Anne.

2014 attractions will include:

More than 600 exhibits.

Over 40 steam engines will be on show - including rollers, road locomotives, lorries, showman’s engines and miniature engines.

A full programme of events in the arena - including the steam parade, vintage vehicle parades and a family favourite The Steam Games - Plus the opportunity to steer a full size steam engine.

There will also be Vintage & Classic Vehicles - cars, lorrie’s commercial vehicles, motorcycles, vintage tractors and buses.

Anne explained: “With a Steam powered demonstration of wood cutting at the Saw Benches and stationary engines, there be all of the fun of the fair with a traditional funfair and craft & food tent”

Sussex Steam Shows Ltd is a non-profit making company which organises the Wiston Steam Rally in association with the Sussex Steam Engine Club.

In 2011, the first rally was held at Wiston Park. The aim of each event is to support local and national charities as well as raise sufficient funds to continue to hold future events.
