Fundraising festive gift wrapping service

On Saturday 14 December, Karen Roberts from Angels International, a charity which helps supply medical aid and promotes education and training for local doctors, nurses and health workers in Malawi, Africa, will be at the Nurseries from 10am to 5pm to wrap gifts for shoppers.

Karen will be offering a gift wrap service for all items in return for a donation (with all proceeds to Angel International), starting at £2.00.

Nigel Wait, Managing Director of Newbridge Nurseries, said: “We are always keen to support charities and Christmas is of course traditionally a time of giving.

“Everyone knows that the festive season can also be chaotic, so we decided to raise money for charity whilst offering customers the chance to have their Christmas gifts wrapped, saving them time.

“It’s also great for those who aren’t confident with their own wrapping skills, as Karen is on hand to ensure all presents are beautifully presented – we like to make sure we do things properly at Newbridge.”

Angels International is based in Midhurst and wasfounded in 1990.

The charity is currently supporting a health centre in Malawi and a health centre in Dedza, providing outreach clinics for villagers, with services including vaccinations, antenatal checks and HIV/AIDS testing.

Karen Roberts, who is a trustee of Angels International, said: “Hopefully we can raise some vital funds at the Newbridge Nurseries gift-wrap event, as we rely solely on donations in order to continue to support projects in Africa.

“We hope visitors to the garden centre will dig deep for the cause, as it is the season of goodwill. In return, we promise to take the hassle out of the annual Christmas present wrapping.”
