Gazette helps

I would like to thank your paper for featuring the story about my wife and me and the problems we have had finding respite care in the past year.

A community matron from Bognor Regis has spoken to a nursing home in Bognor about our plight and they have tracked me down and been in touch with me.

The nursing home manager/owner will come to see us to assess my wife’s needs, but not promising anything at this stage, so, hopefully, some light at the end of the tunnel.

The part that needs correction is where it states my wife gets £318 a week towards care.

My wife does get that money but only £240 of it is for carers’ wages; the rest is for tax, insurance and employers’ insurance and emergency fund.

Not one penny of it is allowed to be used on Teresa or myself.

Thanks once again for the feature – power to the press.

Keep up the good work on stories of local interest.
