I fear we will one day see an upheaval in the charity world, as it is becoming so vast and all-encompassing, as they try to find more ways of parting us from our cash. In spite of their good work, there is a limit to our money.

As I wrote (Gazette letters, December 4), in the last weeks of 2014, I received 14 requests for regular donations and already this year a further six.

Had they paid the minimum rate of postage, plus the cost of the enclosures, this would seem to suggest at least £15 was spent in contacting just one person, no doubt paid for by donations.
